Clean sync refers to the process of completely erasing a MoneyWiz database (so that it displays no data) then signing into your SYNCbits account again to retrieve a fresh copy of data stored on the server.

Note that this is not the same as simply signing out of your SYNCbits account and signing back in because MoneyWiz keeps a local copy of your data on the device. In order to perform a really "clean" sync, we need to remove that copy.

The article below describes how to perform clean sync on various devices.

Please only do this if you've been asked to by our team as if misused this can lead to some unexpected results.

Clean sync on iPhone, iPad or iPod

Please simply reinstall MoneyWiz as described here: How to reinstall MoneyWiz 2 on smartphones and tablets

Important: even though the linked guide also mentions Android, in order to perform clean sync on Android you need to perform different steps (see below).

That's it! When you start MoneyWiz again it'll have no data so you can sign in to your SYNCbits account again - unless you wanted to erase SYNCbits data and start over - in which case you obviously don't need to sign back in.

Clean sync on Android

It's sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application file intact. You'll need to use some File Manager application and browse to the SD card memory (or your internal device memory) and then find MoneyWiz_2 folder - remove it entirely.

Clean sync on Mac

It's sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application file intact. With MoneyWiz quit, please open Finder on your Mac and from the menu bar at the top choose Go -> Go to Folder... (alternatively you can press this shortcut: ⇧ + ⌘ + G). Delete any contents that are in the text box that appears and paste this path:

~/Library/Containers/

Then press Enter (this GIF shows how to do it).

You will find many folders there. The one we are looking for is called com.moneywiz.mac or com.moneywiz.mac.free or com.moneywiz.mac.off-mas or com.moneywiz.mac.off-mas.free or com.moneywiz.mac-setapp. Please find this folder and place it to Trash (or move somewhere else if you don't want to delete it yet).

Clean sync on Windows

It's sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application intact. The database file is located here:

C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\SilverWiz\MoneyWiz\moneywiz-release.db

Note that the AppData folder is hidden. Navigate to this path then move moneywiz-release.db file to Trash (or move somewhere else if you don't want to delete it yet).
